Each origami crane is made with upcycled wallpaper. Wallpaper today is blended with plastics, to make it durable, but there is a lot of waste that doesn't get used and ends up in landfills. That's when Lawrence Beall, the artist, got the idea to turn his passion into a business that helps save our planet. Beall partnered with an interior design corporation to collect and recycle their unused wallpaper, turning it into origami art, like these earrings.
Advantages of Using Wallpaper
*Wallpaper is manufactured with some scrubbability in mind, so you can rest assured that it will have superior durability, compared to that of traditional origami paper. Additionally, variances in color, texture, and shapes of this wallpaper's print design (gold, navy blue, white, etc.) mean the outcome of each earring is beautifully original!

Masu is the traditional sake-serving cup and a symbol of prosperity due to sharing the same pronunciation as the Japanese word for increase. It is tradition that the masu be filled to the rim as a sign of prosperity.
